About

Hello everyone!  My name is Melanie Holland and I’ve been married to my husband, Mike, for over 28+ years.  I’m also a mother to four children, one son-in-law, and a grandmother to one little boy- the cutest child in the entire world!

I currently work in “corporate America,” but was previously the founder and owner of a non-profit that worked with at-risk youth and their families, a youth pastor, and a chaplain of the youth detention center where I worked with gang members and some of the most at-risk youth in America.  Through it all, I’ve found that people all want the same thing: To be loved, cared for, and believed in.  They also want to know that they aren’t alone in their struggles. That’s what A Beautifully Broken Life is about.

In my life, like many, I have experienced love, support, and much more.  But, like many, I have also dealt with abandonment, neglect, abuse, feeling like I needed to be perfect in order to receive love, and the idea that

I had to “go it alone” as if I am the only one I can count on.  It’s a mixed bag and I’m not afraid of tackling the hard topics; especially if it will benefit others as I KNOW I am not alone in this.

I chose the name A Beautifully Broken Life because we are all broken in some way.  However, that doesn’t make us unusable, unlovable, or shattered beyond repair. In fact, our brokenness can become something beautiful, if we allow it to.

I invite you to take a journey with me… as you read my thoughts and feelings on various topics that we can all relate to, please share your views with me.  Please tell me how you feel about the topic at hand and how you, too, have overcome.  After all, your story might just help others and that is the first step in making our lives count.

Your friend,

Mel

I am so excited to read more from your blog! I can sadly relate to a lot of your “deep” about me facts. I am happy to see someone open up and share the brokenness along with the light. Thank you for being a relatable role model.

Julianna, thank YOU for validating my vulnerability. It’s only in being vulnerable can we be relatable as you stated. Thank you for recognizing that AND for taking the time to read about my beautifully broken life. Excited to take this journey with you 😉

This made me cry (no surprise, huh? ;). Thank you Lynda. Thing is: this was just the cliff notes… BUT we ALL go through tough stuff, don’t we? It just looks different for each of us. We have to do something with it or it’s a waste. I love you too 😘
